Apple MobileMe is Internet-based service that synchronizes your emails, calendar, local disk files and contacts to your Mac, iPhone or iPod Touch.
Whatever change you make to your email program or selected files, they are automatically reflected in the online synch server called "the cloud". Switch on any of your other devices connecting them to MobileMe and they will automatically synch all your data. All emails, contact books and files will stay synchronized across all your MobileMe-enabled devices. Whatever device you are currently using your data is always synchronized and current.
MobileMe synchronizes your data instantly for iPod and iPhone when you connect to the Internet and synchronization for Macs and PCs is a matter of minutes. Message headers are being downloaded to your iPhone instantly once you connect.
MobileMe uses IMAP technology to manage message management. This means that when you mark a message read on one device, it is automatically reflected in all other devices accessing the same mailbox.
Apple MobileMe works with the applications you are already using: iCal, Mail and Address Book on Mac and MS Outlook on PC. All information gathered in these applications will be synced and also available online at me.com that is an elegant online panel without advertisements allowing you to manage and edit your synced stuff using Web browser. There is also a nifty Web calendar included you can use to schedule your meetings.
Using MobileMe there is no need to dock any of your devices – everything is being synced automatically once you connect to the Internet.
Apple MobileMe performs automatic virus scans of all incoming and outgoing correspondence and it also includes spam blocking facility to keep your mailbox clean of unsolicited emails.
The software includes the MobileMe iDisk feature allowing to upload files of any type to your "cloud" for syncing or backup purposes. Files can be uploaded, managed, deleted, renamed, and downloaded from MobileMe iDisk. The Web interface can be accessed from anywhere and if you are on Mac, your iDisk files are accessible right from the Finder.
iDisk allows you to share your files with others too. Files you upload to a public folder are available for download for your friends and colleagues.
Apple MobileMe store files online via the iDisk facility of up to 20GB and 200GB monthly transfer allowance is assigned with each Apple MobileMe account. MobileMe allows you to create a mailbox in the @me.com domain.
Apple MobileMe gives you the ability to upload your pictures to an online photo gallery called MobileMe Gallery. Once uploaded, you can group your photos into galleries, invite your friends to view them or even to contribute uploading their own stuff. You can automatically resize them, rotate or add cool effects such as slideshows, mosaic or carousel. Pictures can be downloaded from the website and like your contacts and emails they are also easily manageable via the Web administration panel.
