Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 allows you to securely connect to remote systems across your network to provide help desk support, and resolve settings and/or software issues without the need of a physical presence of the administrator. You can also download and upload data using the built-in file transfer features.
With Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 you can connect to virtually any remote machine running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Pocket PC, Mac OS X Universal or Linux.
Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5 is designed to work smoothly with routers, firewalls and other networking devices providing a maximum level of accessibility while keeping your connection secure against unauthorized access. The host you are trying to connect to is easily found even when it has no static IP or resides between a masquerading interface or NAT.
pcAnywhere's gateway performs network scanning to find live hosts within the (sub)network and administrator wishing to connect to the hosts remotely that are withing that (sub)network simply send a request to the gateway which stores the list of internal hosts letting you connect to them.
Network may be connected form the outside while unauthorized users are being blocked.
The interface is simple and transparent so that help desk operators should have no problems at all assisting their users.
